Orphan Grain Train Christmas Gift Boxes

Over the previous five years we have sent 7,921 Christmas boxes to children all around the world who rarely receive any gifts. This year we have the unique opportunity to send our largest amount ever!  Thanks to a generous donation at the very end of last season, we are starting this summer with 3,428 pairs of socks and 2,466 pairs of underwear.  Because of this, we are requesting donations of monetary gifts, t-shirts, and toys to help us finish these boxes.  This summer we are collecting:

•  Dolls

•  Barbies

•  Blocks (Legos, Duplos, wooden)

•  Baseball gloves

•  Small cars (Matchbox, Hot Wheels)

•  Pony Beads, Embroidery Floss, and Scissors

•  Decks of playing cards

•  Hair barrettes, rubber bands, and bows

•  Play food

•  Jump Ropes

•  Stuffed Animals

•  T-shirts (Sizes 2T – Youth L)

Take a tag from the Christmas in July tree and return the items to the tree.  These items may be either new or used.  Additional items may be placed under the tree as well.  Monetary donations will be used to purchase other items to fill the boxes and can be sent (marked “Grace Lutheran Christmas Box Project”) to Grace Lutheran Church or Orphan Grain Train, Norfolk, NE.  We are collecting donations through July 31st.  If you have any questions or would like to help pack the boxes, contact Kelly Asbury at 402-371-3521. You can help these children know they are precious and that Jesus is the greatest gift of all!

2024 BEEF BLAST

We want you! Lutheran High Northeast is hosting its 28th annual Beef Blast Auction on August 25, 2024, and it would not be possible if we didn't have generous people in our community like yourself. We are looking to bring desired items to our bidders and would love for you to consider being one of our 300 donors this year and blessing our students and school through:

1. donating business or personal items.

2.  a monetary donation.

3. becoming an event sponsor.

Your generous gift will be used to help us raise additional funds for students' tuition and to make much needed repairs in the school.

God's blessings to you in your consideration!

2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR THEME

Our 2024-2025 school year theme comes from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” We will Rejoice, Pray, and Give Thanks throughout this school year!

2 Ways to Support CLS!

Casey’s: You can sign up for the Casey’s Rewards app.  You may donate your rewards to Christ Lutheran school.  For more information go to caseys.com/schools

Box Tops

Many are familiar with Box Tops for Education, those labels found on various grocery items.  Now, you can download the “Box Tops for Education” app on your phone that can be scanned at the check-out.  As long as you link your account to Christ Lutheran School, we will reap the benefits of everyday items you purchase normally.  Our last check from General Mills was over $650!  Please consider downloading the app to help CLS out!

Remember!

Remember to call the church office if you are hospitalized or having surgery so Pastor can visit you.  Your or a family memeber must contact us.  Faith Regional is not able to contact each of the local churches about their members being hospitalized.  Also, hearing about your hospitilization from others and not from you or family, makes it hard for Pastor to visit due to HIPPA restrictions.

New Mailboxes

Mailboxes for each member family of Mt. Olive are now in use.  The mailboxes will have newsletters and other church related information placed into them.  You will be able to access them any time you are at church.  Newsletters will only be mailed out to those who are shut-ins.  All other memebers will have newsletters and information put into their mailboxes.

Join the Prayer Chain

One of the priviledges of being a Christian is to pray.  You are welcome to participate in the Mt. Olive Prayer Chain.  If you would like to participate, please contact Tim Kirschner and/or Rita Foxhoven, and/or the church office.  Please remember, in order maintain HIPPA requirements, only immediate family members of the individual being prayed for will be permitted to initiate a prayer chain request.

Our Gifts to the Lord

Offerings will still be gathered in the back of the church as you enter or leave.  They may be placed in the wooden Mt. Olive cart.  We continue encouraging members to give to the Lord and the church through automatic bank draft, mailing in your give, or dropping off your offerings at the office.

Would you like to be an "Angel"?

There are from time to time special financial needs of members of our congregation, especially during this time of year.  If you would be interested in being an "Angel" to these members who are in need, please designate a gift in your offering to the "The Angel Fund."  Those who are in need are held in strict confidence.  The Elders will facilitate the gifts of the "Angels" and those members in need of these blessings.  Thank you for considering blessing those in our congregation who may be experiencing a difficulty.

Shepherd's Staff

Mt. Olive Members please remember that when you change your address, change your marital status, change phone numbers, or change anything about yourself you need to contact the church office.  Please take the time to call the church office when the above things happen so we may have the correct information in your record.
