The History of Mount Olive

Mount Olive Lutheran Church was formed from 21 members who left Grace Lutheran in April of 1931 at a Quarterly Voters Meeting.  The church was formally organized on November 2nd, 1931 and the name Mount Olive English Evangelical Lutheran Church was adopted. They purchased the land and church at the corner of 2nd and Omaha Avenue from the Congregational Church where they had been meeting since the break from Grace Lutheran. The church was formally incorporated on March 23, 1935. The church was eventually replaced with a new one and the name was also changed to Mount Olive Lutheran Church of Norfolk, NE (Lutheran Church Missouri Synod).

Mount Olive currently has 566 baptized members. We worship on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. We start 2014 with John Nelson Jr. as our Pastor who has been at Mount Olive since June of 2009. Please visit us for worship to see how we seek the honor and Glory of God, to carry out His will, to manifest the unity of our faith in Jesus Christ as God and Savior and to spread the kingdom of God to others.
